    Eligibility Criteria:

    To be eligible for a CETA internship, applicants must meet the following criteria:

    1. Be a South African citizen under 35 years old.
    2. Possess a valid South African ID.
    3. Hold a relevant post-matric qualification from a recognized institution.
    4. Have not participated in any previous SETA-sponsored internship programs.
    5. Have not been previously permanently employed.

    CETA Internship Job Profile

    Interns in this program will engage in a variety of tasks, including:

    • Performing entry-level tasks for the unit.
    • Managing correspondence, inquiries, and maintaining records and files.
    • Offering administrative support in coordinating the unit’s budgeting processes.
    • Assisting in gathering information for audit preparations.
    • Collating data and preparing monthly and quarterly reports for the units.
    • Executing tasks delegated by supervisors and managers.
    • Preparing meeting agendas and recording minutes.
    • Creating a minimum of one presentation per quarter or as required.
    • Participating in rotational planning for exposure to different tasks within a specific department.
    • Formal progress reviews for interns at the end of each quarter.

    Core Competencies

    During the CETA Internship, interns are expected to develop the following core competencies:

    • Knowledge of CETA and SETA Landscape: Understand CETA as a corporate and public entity. Gain knowledge of the broader SETA (Sector Education and Training Authority) landscape, including its purpose and mandate.
    • Theoretical Knowledge in Functional Areas: Acquire relevant and reasonable theoretical knowledge pertaining to the specific departments or units in which interns are placed. Develop a solid understanding of functional areas related to their internship roles.
    • Understanding of Regulatory Laws and Frameworks: Possess basic knowledge about relevant regulatory laws and frameworks. Familiarity with Acts, guidelines, and policies such as the Skills Development Act, SDLA, PFMA, Tax laws, BBBEE, Employment Equity, and Affirmative Action, among others.
