Requirements

  •  Possession of a valid Trade Test Certificate in Diesel Mechanics.
  • Holding a valid Code EC driver’s license with a valid Professional Driving Permit (PDP).
  • Prior experience in repairing, rebuilding, maintaining, and modifying diesel and petrol vehicles.
  • Proficiency in handling heavy and small plant and equipment, particularly construction plant machinery.
  • Basic skills in welding, fitting, and turning tasks.
  • Familiarity with auto electrical work, including diagnostics and repairs.
  • Ability to perform basic spray painting tasks as needed.

Key Duties

  • Maintain, repair, rebuild, and modify all vehicles, construction plant, and equipment to industry standards.
  • Supervise Trade Worker Aid and Apprentice, providing guidance and support in daily tasks.
  • Uphold occupational Health and Safety standards, ensuring compliance with regulations and protocols.
  • Utilize technical skills for tasks such as analysis, legal compliance, and computer-aided applications.
  • Perform administrative duties, including completing log forms and timesheets, initiating orders, and preparing reports.
  • Proficiency in mechanical work on construction plant, equipment, and vehicles (test).
  • Ability to maintain good interpersonal relations with colleagues and stakeholders.
  • Capability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines consistently.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent planning and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficient in time management to efficiently handle tasks and responsibilities.

Salary

  • Grade A: R 230,898 – R 256,263 per annum
  • Grade B: R 270,915 – R 300,675 per annum
  • Grade C: R 314,751 – R 386,775 per annum
  • Salary will be determined according to OSD prescripts.
  • Note: Cost-to-employer (CTE) remuneration packages for certain OSDs include all costs related to service benefits or obligations, such as basic salary, 13th cheque, medical assistance, housing assistance, and pension-fund contributions. If remuneration is not indicated as CTE, employees’ service benefits or obligations are funded or co-funded as per applicable prescripts or collective agreements.
