Artscape is seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Assistant Sound Technician to join our dynamic team. This role is essential for ensuring the highest quality of sound production for various events, functions, and productions.

    Assistant Sound Technician Overview

    • Contract: 12 months
    • Application Deadline: 03 July 2024
    • Reporting To: Head of Sound
    • Remuneration: Aligned to the company remuneration policy

    Duties

    As an Assistant Sound Technician, you will be responsible for:

    • Rigging Sound and AV Equipment: Set up sound and AV equipment for productions, events, and functions.
    • Operating Equipment: Manage and operate sound and AV equipment during events and productions.
    • Conducting Sound Checks: Perform sound checks before productions to ensure everything is working correctly.
    • Compliance: Ensure all equipment complies with health, safety, and security regulations.
    • Maintenance: Keep all sound equipment clean and operational, conducting regular inventory checks.
    • Recording and Editing: Record and edit voiceovers as needed.
    • Striking Equipment: Disassemble sound equipment and return it to storage after events.
    • Issuing Equipment: Control the distribution of all Artscape sound equipment.

    Educational Requirements

    • Matric Certificate or Equivalent: This qualification is an advantage.
    • Tertiary Qualification: A sound engineering or related tertiary qualification is preferred.
    • Computer Literacy: Proficiency with computers, particularly Apple software, is advantageous.

    Further Requirements

    • Experience: Documented experience in the sound engineering field.
    • Flexibility: Willingness to work overtime as required.
    • Basic AV Understanding: A foundational understanding of AV systems.
