• Stipend: A minimum of R7,043.31 per month, commensurate with the highest qualification at the time of appointment.

Internship Objectives

The dtic Internship Programme aims to provide qualifying candidates with opportunities to gain skills, knowledge, and experience, positioning themselves for meaningful participation in the labour market. Interns will also have the chance to contribute to the dtic’s goals of promoting industrial development, trade, investment, and competition.

The Department of Trade Industry and Competition invites applications from unemployed South African graduates aged between 18 and 35 years, who hold a tertiary qualification in the following fields:

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants must possess a tertiary qualification (NQF level 6 and above) in one of the listed fields. Good academic performance will serve as an added advantage.

• Contribute to the department’s initiatives aimed at economic development: Each intern will play a role in supporting the dtic’s broader goals of economic growth and competitiveness. This may involve research, analysis, and the implementation of strategies designed to enhance South Africa’s economic standing both locally and globally.
• Learn about government systems and processes: Understanding the intricacies of government operations is crucial for anyone looking to make an impact in the public sector. Interns will gain insights into how policies are developed, how decisions are made, and how various departments interact to achieve national objectives.
• Participate in workshops, meetings, and other learning opportunities: The dtic is committed to the continuous professional development of its interns. As such, participants will have access to workshops and seminars that cover a range of topics, from technical skills to soft skills enhancement. • Collaborate with seasoned professionals and other interns: Networking is a key component of the internship experience.
