    The Shoprite Bursary Programme for the 2024/2025 academic year is now open for applications.

    Shoprite bursary ranges from R30 000 to R60 000 based on the fields of study and institution. The bursary covers tuition, books and accommodation allowances. Any extra funds available from the amount granted will be paid in monthly instalments.

    Fields of Study Covered by Shoprite Bursary Programme

    • Accounting (CA Stream – SAICA) (10 bursaries will be awarded)
    • Biological and Agricultural Sciences (10 bursaries will be awarded)
    • Criminology (3 bursaries will be awarded)
    • Data Science (10 bursaries will be awarded)
    • Food Science (10 bursaries will be awarded)
    • Information Technology/ Systems (10 bursaries will be awarded)
    • Retail Business Management (60 bursaries will be awarded)
    • Supply Chain & Logistics (10 bursaries will be awarded)

    Shoprite Bursary Programme Requirements per Qualification

    • South African citizenship
    • Must have completed Matric
    • 27 years old and younger
    • For Accounting  (CA Stream – SAICA) Bursary:
      • Studying towards either of these qualifications: BCom Accounting, BAcc (CA stream)
      • Studying in your 2nd, 3rd, 4th year of study / PGDA / CTA
      • Achieved a minimum overall average of 65%
      • Achieved a minimum result of 65% for Accounting, Auditing and Taxation subjects
      • Studying at a recognised and accredited tertiary institution in South Africa
    • For Criminology Bursary:
      • Studying towards either of these qualifications: Bachelor of Criminology, BA Law/BA Social Work with Criminology as major, BA Honours in Criminology
      • Studying in your 3rd or 4th year or Honours of study
      • Achieved a minimum overall average of 65%
      • Studying at a recognised and accredited tertiary institution in South Africa
    • For Information Technology Bursary:
      • Studying towards either of these qualifications: BSc/ BCom with a major in Information Systems/ Systems Analysis
      • Studying in your 2nd, 3rd or 4th year of study of study
      • Studying at a recognised and accredited tertiary institution in South Africa
    • For Data Science Bursary:
      • Studying towards a Degree qualification in either of these fields: Data Science, Data Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Industrial Engineering, Statistics, Operational Research, Quantitative Management (or a similar quantitative degree)
      • Studying in your 2nd to third year of study
      • Achieved a minimum overall average of 60%
      • Achieved a minimum result of 65% for Mathematics
      • Studying at a recognised and accredited tertiary institution in South Africa
    • Food Science Bursary:
      • Studying towards either of these qualifications: BSc in Food Science, Consumer Science, Microbiology, Food Technology, Advanced Diploma in Quality, Diploma/Degree in Culinary Arts
      • Studying in your 2nd to 4th year of study of study
      • Achieved a minimum overall average of 60%
      • Studying at a recognised and accredited tertiary institution in South Africa
    • For Logistics/ Supply Chain Bursary:
      • Studying towards either of these qualifications: Bachelors of Commerce: Logistics (Quantitative Management), Bachelor of Science: Operational Research or a related degree/ qualification
      • Studying in your 2nd or 3rd year of study of study
      • Achieved a minimum overall average of 60%
      • Studying at a recognised and accredited tertiary institution in South Africa
    • Retail/Hospitality Business Management Bursary:
      • Studying towards a Diploma in Retail Business Management
      • Studying in your 1st, 2nd or 3rd year of study of study
      • Achieved a minimum overall average of 60%
      • Studying at a recognised and accredited tertiary institution in South Africa

    How to Apply
