    The Wits Health Consortium is currently looking for two (2) Research Study Assistants to join the Inkomazi Microbiome Study team. This is a 12-month fixed-term contract, and it’s your chance to work at the prestigious Chris Hani Baragwanath Academic Hospital and community healthcare centers such as Mofolo North CHC and Lillian Ngoyi CHC.     Key Responsibilities

    As a Research Study Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting the Inkomazi Microbiome Study. Your responsibilities will focus on ensuring that the study progresses smoothly, and you will be instrumental in meeting the study’s objectives. Some of your key duties will include:

    1. Customer Interaction
      • Provide a high level of professionalism when interacting with both internal and external customers.
      • Build and maintain authentic relationships with all stakeholders, ensuring that all interactions are professional and productive.
    2. Work Process Management
      • Efficiently manage your workload to maintain high levels of productivity.
      • Ensure that all work processes are followed diligently, supporting the overall success of the study.
    3. Effective Self-Management and Performance Ownership
      • Take full ownership and accountability for your assigned tasks, demonstrating self-management and initiative.
      • Ensure that the quality and productivity standards of your work are consistently maintained.
      • Stay positive and open to feedback, using it as a tool for personal growth.
      • Take charge of your career development by participating in workshops, training sessions, and other professional development activities.
      • Use your knowledge of the organizational systems, structures, policies, and procedures to achieve the best possible results.
      • Provide timely resolutions when tasks or deadlines are not met, ensuring that the work moves forward without significant delays.

    Required Education and Skills

    If you’re interested in applying, here are the qualifications and skills that will be beneficial:

    • Minimum Education:
      • A Matric / Grade 12 certificate is required.
      • Training in Good Clinical Practice (GCP) is preferred, though not mandatory.
      • A Valid Driver’s License is beneficial but not compulsory.
    • Work Experience:
      • You should have 1-2 years of research experience or demonstrable experience in clinical work.
    • Personal Skills and Abilities:
      • Confidentiality, tact, and discretion are essential in this role.
      • Strong self-management skills, the ability to prioritize, and the capacity to work both independently and within a team are key.
      • You should be able to handle pressure well and meet deadlines efficiently.

    Desirable Additional Skills and Attributes

    • Excellent communication skills.
    • The ability to work well in a multidisciplinary team.
    • Problem-solving abilities, especially in a clinical setting.
