Internship Summary
A Business Analyst intern is responsible for a variety of tasks that require a core skill set as well as the ability to pivot in response to changing business landscapes. Business analysts expertly use a variety of tools and technologies to manage even the most difficult situations. Interns aspiring to excel in this domain can develop a wide range of skill sets, including Business Analysis, Process Engineering, Solution Architecture, and Systems Analysis.
Qualifications
To qualify for the IQ Business Graduate Internship programme, the following is required:
A Completed degree in one of the following fields of study:
- Systems
- BSc/ BEng Mechanical or Industrial Engineering
- BSc Computer Science
- Diploma in Systems Analysis or Information Technology
- PDM; PDBA; PGDIP and Master in any of the above would be advantageous
Requirements
- Leadership Roles: Participation in student organizations, clubs, or leadership positions that demonstrate initiative and organizational skills.
- Project Work: Experience in handling academic or extracurricular projects that involve teamwork and strategic thinking.
- Previous Internship or Work Experience: Prior experience in consulting, business analysis, or a related field would be advantageous.
- Ability to travel between IQ business and our clients, locally or outside of SA.

The IQ Business Graduate internship programme seeks individuals with the following skills:
- Analytical Skills: Proficiency in analysing data, identifying trends, and making data-driven recommendations.
- Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively interact with clients and team members.
- Technical Skills: Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel, PowerPoint, and Word) and basic knowledge of data analysis tools (e.g., SQL, Python, or R) is a plus.
- Research Skills: Ability to conduct thorough and accurate research to support project needs and client engagements.
- Problem-Solving Skills: Demonstrated ability to approach complex problems methodically and creatively.

The IQ Business Analyst position will develop the following skills:
- Business Analysis Business analysts are agents of change, professionals who analyse a business or organisation, by documenting its systems and processes, assessing its business model, identifying vulnerabilities, and devising solutions.
- Systems Analysis: Systems analysts assess the suitability of information systems in terms of their intended outcomes and liaise with end users, software vendors and programmers to achieve these outcomes
- Process Engineer: A process engineer optimises and improves the efficiency of an organisation’s manufacturing and industrial processes. They ensure the smooth functioning of production lines, develop new techniques, modify existing designs and coordinate process improvement projects.
- Solution Architecture: Solutions architects, owning the overall technical relationship and strategy between the customer and organization. They lead architectural design sessions, develop proof of concepts/pilots, implement projects, and deliver ongoing refinement and enhancement.
