    Job Purpose: The Assistant Accountant is responsible for processing, recording, updating, and reconciling financial information in compliance with policies. Additionally, they provide crucial support to campus accounting staff.

    Minimum Qualification Requirement:

    • Matric (Grade 12) is essential.
    • Finance-related Diploma (NQF Level 6) would be advantageous.

    Minimum Work Experience Requirement:

    • 3-4 years of bookkeeping experience.
    • Experience with Microsoft D365 will be advantageous.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    Accounts Payable:

    • Review and allocate invoices to vendor accounts and correct General Ledger entries.
    • Verify quotes and purchase orders, ensuring compliance with approval procedures.
    • Compile necessary documentation for payments and prepare payment journals.
    • Reconcile creditor accounts and submit payment journals for approval.
    • Maintain financial procedures and compliance with audit requirements.
    • Manage vendor forms and update accounting systems with new vendors.

    General Ledger:

    • Perform general ledger reconciliations.
    • Process and balance campus loan accounts.
    • Handle Cashbook transactions and bank reconciliations.
    • Support campus and national Finance teams as required.
