Job Purpose: The Assistant Accountant is responsible for processing, recording, updating, and reconciling financial information in compliance with policies. Additionally, they provide crucial support to campus accounting staff.
Minimum Qualification Requirement:
- Matric (Grade 12) is essential.
- Finance-related Diploma (NQF Level 6) would be advantageous.
Minimum Work Experience Requirement:
- 3-4 years of bookkeeping experience.
- Experience with Microsoft D365 will be advantageous.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Accounts Payable:
- Review and allocate invoices to vendor accounts and correct General Ledger entries.
- Verify quotes and purchase orders, ensuring compliance with approval procedures.
- Compile necessary documentation for payments and prepare payment journals.
- Reconcile creditor accounts and submit payment journals for approval.
- Maintain financial procedures and compliance with audit requirements.
- Manage vendor forms and update accounting systems with new vendors.
General Ledger:
- Perform general ledger reconciliations.
- Process and balance campus loan accounts.
- Handle Cashbook transactions and bank reconciliations.
- Support campus and national Finance teams as required.
