    Communications Officer Job Description

    As a Communications Officer, you will be responsible for crafting effective communication strategies to promote eThekwini Municipality’s corporate image.     Key Responsibilities

    1. Operational and Strategic Communication:
      • Develop annual operational plans for client units.
      • Create communication strategies for cluster projects and programmes.
    2. Content Creation:
      • Write articles, press releases, and features for diverse audiences.
      • Prepare advertisements to educate and persuade target audiences.
    3. Visual and Digital Media Management:
      • Select and prepare visuals for campaigns.
      • Manage the municipality’s social media presence on platforms like Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn.
    4. Branding and Event Coordination:
      • Design brochures, flyers, and promotional materials.
      • Plan and coordinate events and launches for various units.
    5. Media and Policy Advisory:
      • Advise line departments on communication policies.
      • Promote and protect the corporate image of the municipality.
    6. Research and Monitoring:

    Requirements

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Diploma (NQF Level 6) in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field.
    • Valid driver’s license.
    • At least three years of relevant experience.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Degree (NQF Level 7) in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or equivalent.
    • Four years of relevant experience.
