The program aims to admit 15 learners based in Durban for a period of 12 months. Participants will engage in a comprehensive learning experience, encompassing mentorship and coaching that delves deeply into the baking process.

This SETA-accredited program ensures all successful candidates receive a formal qualification endorsed by SAQA. Learners will gain hands-on experience necessary to meet the demands of both RCL FOODS and SETA throughout the qualification period.

Through the Supreme Siyabhaka Academy, the Baking Learnership at RCL Foods focuses on three primary goals:

  • Comprehensive Training: The learnership provides extensive training covering all fundamental and advanced aspects of baking, from ingredient selection and dough preparation to baking techniques and finishing touches. This ensures learners develop a thorough understanding of the craft.
  • Professional Readiness: Beyond baking skills, the program includes modules on health and safety standards, customer service, and workplace etiquette to prepare learners for professional environments.
  • Certification and Recognition: Each participant will complete the learnership with a SETA-accredited qualification, officially recognizing their skills and making them attractive candidates in the job market. This certification is crucial for validating their expertise and facilitating entry into professional roles.
  • Brand Association: By associating learners with RCL Foods’ trusted baking brands, we aim to build a workforce that embodies the qualities of our products—reliability, quality, and innovation. This alignment helps reinforce our brand’s reputation in the market.
  • Marketing Initiatives: Learners will participate in various marketing and promotional activities, giving them a unique perspective on how strong brands maintain market presence and consumer trust. This experience is invaluable for understanding the intersection of production and business strategy.
  • Setting Standards: RCL Foods is dedicated to raising industry standards by producing graduates who are capable of introducing new techniques and exceptional products. This leadership in education and innovation directly contributes to higher quality standards across the industry.
  • Consumer Engagement: Through community engagement and consumer education programs, learners will play a part in enhancing public understanding of quality baking. Changing consumer perceptions about what constitutes quality bakery products can lead to increased demand for superior goods.
  • Building Relationships: Strengthening relationships with customers, suppliers, and other stakeholders is a key component of our leadership strategy. Learners will be involved in projects and assignments that require them to interact with various industry players, enhancing their communication skills and professional networks.
