    The Engineer in Training program at ABB South Africa is a full-time, one-of-a-kind traineeship that combines practical experience with professional development. The program follows the 70:20:10 Learning and Development Model, which ensures that you not only learn but also gain practical experience and mentorship to excel in your field.

    • 70% Hands-on Learning: Gain real-world experience by working directly with ABB’s industry-leading products and systems.

    Available Positions for 2024/2025 Intake:

    1. Electrical Engineering:
      • Exposure to the testing of switchgear (Primary, Secondary, Modular, and commissioning).
      • Work with electrical and mechanical designs for switchgears.
    2. Mechanical Engineering:
      • Basic design and drafting skills development.
      • Hands-on experience with the workings of Electrical Motors.
    3. Control and Instrumentation:
      • Experience with Control Systems, Field Instrumentation, and Actuators.
      • Design and Commission Distributed Control Systems (DCS).
    4. Industrial Engineering:
      • Learn from ABB’s Factory Operations, Time Studies, and Process Improvements.
    5. Computer Engineering:
      • Play a key role in driving the 4th Industrial Revolution through ABB Ability.

    1. Corporate Marketing and Communication:
      • Work on corporate branding, communication, and organizing company events.
    2. Supply Chain Management or Logistics:
      • Gain experience in managing transportation, trade, logistics, and the supply chain.
    3. Human Resource Management:
      • Work in employee life cycle management, learning & development, compensation & benefits, payroll, and industrial relations.
    4. Finance or Accounting:
      • Experience business controlling and accounts payable operations.
    5. Occupational Health & Safety:
      • Participate in health and safety campaigns, ensuring a safe work environment.
    6. Information Technology or Information Systems:
      • Manage IT processes from start to finish within ABB.

    Requirements

    To qualify for the Graduate in Training program, you must have:

    • A bachelor’s degree (BCom, B-Tech) in Marketing, Supply Chain, Human Resources, Accounting, Finance, Occupational Health & Safety, or Information Systems.
    • Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
    • A problem-solving mindset with creativity and innovation.
