    Key Responsibilities

    • Rescue Drowning Persons: Lifeguards will monitor beach activity and swiftly act to save individuals in distress in the water.
    • Perform First Aid Safety Procedures: Administer first aid to those in need, providing necessary medical attention until professional help arrives.
    • Crowd Control & Peace Officer Duties: In addition to lifesaving, you will be expected to manage crowds, ensuring the beach remains a safe and enjoyable environment for everyone.
    • Beach Patrolling: You will work across all designated beaches based on the approved schedule, ensuring consistent surveillance and rapid response in case of emergencies.

    Requirements

    To be considered for this role, applicants must meet the following qualifications:

    • Grade 10: A minimum educational requirement of Grade 10.
    • Surf Proficiency Award or Lifeguard Award: You must hold a valid certification in lifesaving skills, such as a Surf Proficiency or Lifeguard Award.
    • Valid Retest Certificate: Ensure that your lifesaving skills are up to date with a valid retest certificate.
    • Experience: A minimum of one (1) year of relevant lifesaving experience is required to apply.

    Work Schedule

    The position requires you to work across various beaches in the region, based on the schedule approved by the department. Flexibility and willingness to work in different locations as assigned are essential.
