About the Post Basic Qualified Pharmacist Assistant Role
The chosen candidate will support the pharmacy team by assisting in the preparation, dispensing, and sale of medicines, ensuring compliance with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC) regulations. Minimum Requirements
To qualify for this position, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- A Grade 12/Matric qualification.
- Possession of a Basic Pharmacist Assistance qualification.
- Registration with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC).
- Experience with Unisolv and proficiency in MS Office.
- Strong command of English and a second language.
- Sound numerical skills.
- Willingness and ability to work retail hours.
Preferred Qualifications and Skills
Applicants with the following additional skills and knowledge will have an advantage:
- Familiarity with Retail/FMCG operations.
- Proficiency in SAP, E-Scripting, and understanding of drug and family planning.
- Knowledge of complementary medicine.
- Command of a third additional language.
Key Responsibilities
The successful applicant will be entrusted with a variety of important duties, including but not limited to:
- Assisting with the sale of Schedule 1 and Schedule 2 medicines.
- Preparing, compounding, and repackaging non-sterile medicines as per approved formulas.
- Supporting the distribution and stock control of Schedule 1 to Schedule 5 medicines.
- Ensuring the accuracy of prescriptions and dispensing medications appropriately.
- Providing health advice and promoting wellness to customers.
- Managing medical aid claims, authorizing chronic and oncology medication, and correcting errors on rejected claims.
- Maintaining customer profiles, merging them centrally where required, and monitoring messages on profiles for suitable action.
- Participating in stock-taking activities and ensuring inventory is correctly ordered and stocked according to First Expiry, First Out (FEFO) principles.
- Ensuring compliance with all health and safety standards within the dispensary.
