Qualifications and Experience
- Education: Grade 12 and Engineering N3
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years in hospital or healthcare maintenance
- Skills: Knowledge of air conditioning, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, nurse call systems, medical gases, and fire systems
- Regulatory Knowledge: Basic understanding of local building codes and Occupational Health and Safety Act
Key Responsibilities
- Attend to daily maintenance requests and emergency calls.
- Conduct preventive maintenance on equipment and infrastructure.
- Perform basic repairs on electrical, plumbing, and air-conditioning systems.
- Assist with installations of electrical, plumbing, and air-conditioning systems.
- Manage and monitor medical gas systems and handle chemicals safely.
- Initiate and close job cards for maintenance tasks.
- Be available for after-hours emergencies and standby duties.
- Coordinate with external contractors and provide work instructions.
- Identify and escalate potential risks requiring specialist intervention.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and Occupational Health and Safety Act requirements.
- Maintain positive relationships with hospital staff and stakeholders.
