North West HR Internships Overview

Stipends and Contract Periods:

  • R7,043.31 per month for a 24-month contract.
  • R5,898.50 per month for an 18-month contract.

Minimum Requirements for HR Internships:

  • Grade 12 Certificate (required)
  • National Diploma/Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field
  • N6 Certificate from TVET Colleges in one of the following specialties:
        • HR Management
        • Public Administration
        • HR Industrial Psychology
        • Management Services
        • Operations

Skills Required for HR Internships:

  • Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues and the public.
  • Skills in mediating conflicts and facilitating discussions.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills to handle multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Attention to detail for managing HR records and data accurately.
  • Proficiency in HR management software and common office applications like Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Understanding of payroll systems and employee benefits management.
  • Ability to analyze employee data to aid in HR decision-making processes.
  • Skills in compiling reports and presentations based on data interpretation.
  • Basic understanding of labor laws and employment standards.
  • Awareness of compliance requirements within the HR field.

Duties of HR Interns:

  • Assisting in the recruitment process by screening candidates, scheduling interviews, and preparing job advertisements.
  • Participating in the development and implementation of onboarding procedures for new hires.
  • Helping to address employee queries and concerns, ensuring swift and professional resolution.
  • Assisting in the organization of staff welfare programs and team-building events.
  • Coordinating training sessions and workshops for employees.
  • Assisting in the evaluation of training programs and keeping records of employee participation.
  • Supporting the performance review process by collecting and organizing feedback from supervisors.
  • Helping in the development of performance improvement plans.
  • Maintaining accurate HR records and databases.
  • Preparing HR documents, such as employment contracts and new hire guides.
  • Ensuring that HR practices comply with legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Assisting in the review and update of HR policies and procedures.

  • Applicants must complete the New Amended Z83 Form. This form must be signed, initialed, and dated, with all fields filled as prescribed.
  • A recent updated curriculum vitae must accompany the application, detailing personal information, qualifications, competencies, and knowledge. It should also include three contactable referees.
  • The application package should indicate the field of study, the centre, and the reference number, and must be submitted either by post to Human Resource Management, Public Works and Roads, Private Bag X2080, Mmabatho, 2735, or by hand delivery to Registry Office no. 133, Ground Floor, East Wing – Old Parliament Building Complex, Modiri Molema Road.
