Key Responsibilities
As a General Worker at JRA, your duties will include:
- Traffic Management: Direct traffic around hazards, set up temporary signs, cones, and barricades.
- Construction and Maintenance: Build and repair concrete kerbs, stormwater kerb inlets, and road manholes; repair potholes, footways, and speed humps; conduct resurfacing and crack sealing.
- Environmental and Site Maintenance: Clear earth and open channels, trim trees, shrubs, and other vegetation, mow grass, and remove debris from roadways.
- Manual Labour: Perform tasks such as ditch digging, culvert cleaning and installation, spreading paving materials, and smoothing gravel roadways.
- Machinery Assistance: Assist crane operators and use relevant tools and equipment for maintenance activities.
- Responding to Public Concerns: Address citizen complaints and concerns at job sites.
- General Roadwork Support: Haul materials, excavate dirt, load and move road materials, and ensure worksite safety.
Minimum Requirements
To qualify for this role, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Education: Grade 10 or NQF equivalent.
- Experience: At least six months of experience in road construction, maintenance, or handling related machinery and equipment.
- Professional Memberships: If applicable, provide membership numbers and expiry dates.
