Key Responsibilities
Operations
- Guarantee the safety and timeliness of flights.
- Monitor aircraft flight paths and systems.
- Execute pre-flight, in-flight, and post-flight procedures.
- Coordinate with internal teams, external service providers, and passengers.
- Ensure compliance with aviation regulations and company policies.
- Submit accurate and comprehensive legal and administrative documentation.
- Assume command in the Captain’s incapacitation.
Pre-Flight Duties
- Familiarize yourself with the planned route, weather conditions, and destination details.
- Perform pre-flight checks and documentation.
- Collaborate with the Captain to evaluate fuel selection, alternate routes, and flight restrictions.
In-Flight Duties
- Execute and monitor normal, abnormal, and emergency checklists.
- Maintain vigilant oversight of flight parameters such as altitude, speed, and heading.
- Conduct radio-telephony (R/T) communications as necessary.
Post-Flight Duties
- Complete all post-flight procedures per the Operations Manual (OM).
- Submit relevant documentation and reports, including IQSMS.
Job Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
- Grade 12 or equivalent.
- SACAA Commercial Pilot License (CPL) – Essential.
- SACAA Airline Transport Pilot License (ATPL) – Preferred.
- Class 1 SACAA Medical Certificate – Essential.
Experience
- Type-rated on Boeing aircraft – Advantageous.
- Experience with commercial jets over 20 tons – Advantageous.
- Minimum of 1,500 flight hours, including 500 hours of multi-turbine time – Essential.
- Multi-crew experience – Essential.
Skills and Knowledge
- Strong understanding of SACAA and ICAO aviation laws.
- Knowledge of Doc 8186 (aviation safety manual) – Essential.
- Familiarity with Commercial and Airline Transport Pilot licensing content.
Additional Requirements
- South African citizenship with a valid passport and RSA driver’s license.
- Clean criminal record and medical history.
- Willingness to sign training bonds and undergo drug and alcohol tests.
- Flexibility to work irregular hours based on a roster.
