- Bridging and short courses.
- Community nursing science.
- Community health nursing, psychiatric nursing, and geriatric nursing.

- Clinical master’s degree programmes.

Benefits of the DENOSA Bursary Programme
The DENOSA Bursary Programme does not provide full funding but offers significant financial support to help nurses meet their educational goals. Recipients must reapply for the bursary annually, with funding renewals based on academic performance. Progress reports are required to be submitted to the DENOSA secretary by 14 February each year.
Successful applicants will be notified of their status beginning in April 2025, ensuring transparency in the selection process.
Eligibility Criteria for the DENOSA Bursary Programme
To apply for the DENOSA Bursary Programme, applicants must meet the following requirements:
- DENOSA Membership: Applicants must be fully paid-up members of DENOSA for at least two years before applying. Membership must also be maintained for the duration of their studies.
- Professional Registration: Candidates must be registered nurses and/or midwives with the South African Nursing Council (SANC).
- Post-Basic Work: Applicants must have completed a certain amount of approved post-basic work.
- Academic Enrolment: Applicants must be accepted and registered at a South African university or technikon for the 2025 academic year.
Specific Criteria by Study Type
- Post-Basic Undergraduate Courses: Candidates must be pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in nursing and have passed at least six courses (half of the program).
- Diploma Courses: For diploma courses lasting more than one year, applicants must have completed at least half of the coursework.
- Short Courses: The course must be listed with SANC, or the applicant must demonstrate how it will improve their nursing practice.
- Bridging Courses: Applicants must have completed the first year of their bridging course.
