Key Responsibilities of the Auto Electrician
In this role, you will be expected to:
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations by attending and conducting risk assessments
- Diagnose and repair electrical faults in Trackless Mobile Machines (TMMs) and underground mining vehicles
- Perform breakdown maintenance and emergency repairs as required
- Maintain and inspect GHH Low Profile Machines, Toyota LDVs, UV Botswana, and other mechanized equipment
- Perform stock control and ensure availability of spare parts and equipment
- Maintain precision in the replacement of components
- Record and ensure compliance with all legal inspections and examinations
- Complete job cards and logs detailing work done, spare parts used, and preventive maintenance tasks
Reporting Structure: This role reports to the Coordinator Engineering in the Engineering Department at a C2 level.
Qualifications and Experience Required
Minimum Qualifications
- Technical Trade Specific N2 Certificate
- Auto Electrician Trade Certificate
- Competent B Certificate (Advantageous)
Work Experience
- 2 – 5 years’ experience as an artisan in mechanised underground mining
- Experience with GHH Low Profile Machines, Toyota LDVs, UV Botswana, and Surface Support/Excavating machines (Advantageous)
- Experience in battery-powered machines (Advantageous)
- Ability to read auto electrical schematics
Knowledge and Skills Required
- Ability to work independently while being a team player
- Willingness to work shifts and be on standby when required
- Valid Code 08 driver’s license and own vehicle
- Punctual, disciplined, and safety-conscious
