    The 18-month learnership will provide immersive, real-world HR experience, allowing the learner to develop practical skills, achieve unit standards, and build a solid portfolio of evidence in various HR disciplines. Reporting to the Hospital HR Manager, Andrea Joubert, the selected candidate will start this impactful journey in February 2025.

    Purpose of the Work Experience Learnership Program

    This program is designed to support aspiring HR professionals who need practical work experience to complete their studies. Through this initiative, the learner will gain exposure to various HR functions at Life St George’s Hospital. The focus will be on developing a foundational HR skill set, enhancing the learner’s employment prospects upon completion.

    Critical Outputs of the HR TVET Learnership Program

    Life St George’s Hospital provides a collaborative and engaging environment for this learnership, focused on experiential learning in the following areas:

    • Recruitment & Selection: Learn the essentials of attracting, screening, and selecting the right candidates to build an effective workforce.
    • Employee Relations/Industrial Relations: Gain insights into maintaining a healthy work environment by addressing employee grievances, understanding labor laws, and fostering positive employee-management relations.
    • Employee Productivity & Wellness: Explore strategies to enhance employee engagement and productivity while promoting physical and mental wellness within the organization.
    • Leadership & Communication: Develop essential leadership and communication skills necessary for managing a diverse workforce.
    • Skills & Talent Development: Understand the processes involved in identifying skill gaps, planning career development initiatives, and implementing training programs.
    • Payroll & HR Administration: Get hands-on experience with payroll management, documentation, and HR administrative tasks, ensuring smooth and compliant HR operations.

    The learner will also receive individualized coaching, which will aid in completing the required unit standards, building a professional portfolio, and developing valuable HR competencies.

    Requirements for Eligibility

    To qualify for this opportunity, applicants must meet the following criteria:

    1. Unemployment Status: Applicants must be currently unemployed to be eligible.
    2. Completed N6 Theory from Public TVET College: Candidates must have finished the N6 theoretical portion in HR from a public TVET institution.
    3. Recommendation Letter from Educational Institution: A recent letter from the educational institution confirming the need for work experience is required.
    4. Commitment to an 18-Month Program: The selected candidate must complete the full 18-month workplace experience to meet graduation requirements.
    5. Non-Beneficiary of HWSETA Grants: Applicants should not be recipients of other HWSETA grants and should not have previously benefited from the work experience grant.
