Key Responsibilities
As a Visual Merchandiser, you will be responsible for enhancing the brand’s retail experience by designing and executing engaging in-store and promotional displays. Your primary goal is to attract customers, create a memorable shopping experience, and ultimately boost sales.
1. Store Display Design & Layout
You will plan and arrange visual merchandising displays that align with Birkenstock’s global brand standards and seasonal themes. This includes:
- Strategically placing products, signage, graphics, and props to create an aesthetically appealing display.
- Aligning visual merchandising with brand guidelines and sales priorities.
2. Product Presentation
- Ensure products are displayed to maximize visibility and appeal.
- Arrange footwear and accessories based on categories, styles, and colours to create a seamless shopping experience.
- Follow global guidelines to maintain consistent brand presentation across all stores.
3. Store Communication & Collaboration
- Work closely with store managers and sales associates to understand sales goals and adjust visual merchandising accordingly.
- Provide guidance and training to store teams on visual merchandising best practices.
4. Window Displays
- Design and install attention-grabbing window displays to captivate potential customers and promote seasonal campaigns.
- Ensure promotions and key product lines are highlighted in an engaging way.
5. Trade Marketing
- Develop and distribute promotional and branded materials for key wholesale partners.
- Ensure reseller stores maintain brand consistency through point-of-sale (POS) collateral and branded displays.
6. Maintaining Visual Standards
- Conduct bi-weekly store visits to check compliance with Birkenstock’s visual merchandising guidelines.
- Monitor store execution of signage placement, cleanliness, and organisation.
- Perform bi-weekly store audits to ensure adherence to global standards.
7. Seasonal & Promotional Changes
- Update displays to reflect seasonal collections, new product launches, and promotional events.
- Coordinate with the marketing team to integrate campaign materials into in-store visual merchandising.
- Assist in zone planning and product categorisation in new store openings.
8. Inventory Coordination
- Assist in monitoring inventory levels to ensure stock availability for visual merchandising displays.
9. Staff Training & Support
- Provide training to store staff on visual merchandising principles and techniques.
- Ensure employees understand product presentation and branding standards.
10. Additional Responsibilities
- Respond to emails and office correspondence.
- Participate in company meetings and events.
- Ensure compliance with deadlines, targets, and company values.

Qualifications & Skills Required
To excel in this role, you should possess the following qualifications and skills:
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 (Matric)
- Previous experience in visual merchandising or a related internship
- Valid driver’s license & own vehicle
- Strong attention to detail and an eye for design
- Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines
Technical & Soft Skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) & Google Suite
- Basic knowledge of analytics and reporting tools (advantageous)
