Educational Requirements

To qualify for the United Nations Population Fund Internships program, applicants must meet one of the following criteria at the time of application:

  • Enrolled in a postgraduate degree programme (e.g., master’s programme or higher) at a recognized university.
  • Enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (e.g., bachelor’s degree or equivalent) at a recognized university.
  • Recently graduated with a university degree (as defined above) and must start the internship within one year of graduation.
  • Enrolled in a postgraduate professional traineeship programme at a recognized university, undertaking the internship as part of the programme.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Demonstrated interest in the field of development.
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English.
  • Ability to adapt to new environments and establish good working relations with individuals from different cultural backgrounds.
  • Family members of current UNFPA staff are not eligible for this internship.

Role and Responsibilities

As part of the United Nations Population Fund Internships program, the Knowledge Management and Innovation Intern will support several ongoing knowledge management projects and assist in the implementation of new activities.

Under the guidance of the Assistant Representative/Head of Programmes, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Monitoring Trends: Track new developments in political, social, and economic environments relevant to sexual and reproductive health and rights, gender equality, and population development in selected middle-income countries.
  • Knowledge Management Training: Support the hosting of training and learning events, including monthly internal learning sessions and webinar series.
  • Data Visualization: Summarize statistical information by creating graphs, tables, and charts related to knowledge and change management projects.
  • Technical Cooperation: Assist in the development, implementation, and evaluation of technical cooperation programmes focused on sustainable financing for national development planning.
  • Information Management: Catalogue and archive technical publications, evaluation and research reports, and other materials according to internal standards.
  • Capacity Building: Contribute to the planning and implementation of internal capacity-building initiatives for colleagues.
  • Community Engagement: Attend local events and presentations on health, knowledge management, and communications for development.
