Unilever is currently looking for a Human Resource Intern to join their team at the Maydon Wharf Factory in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal.     Job Overview:

    The Human Resource Intern will play a pivotal role in supporting the HR team at the Maydon Wharf Factory. This role is designed to provide end-to-end support across multiple HR functions, including HR Business Partnering, Time and Attendance management, Learning and Development, and Employee Relations. The internship will give the selected candidate a comprehensive understanding of the HR process, while offering an opportunity to contribute to critical HR operations within the company.

    Key Responsibilities:

    1. HR Business Partnering:
      • The intern will work closely with the HR Business Partner (HRBP) to support the delivery of the HR strategy. This involves analyzing and preparing weekly and monthly HR dashboards and providing assistance in scheduling performance improvement plan sessions. Additionally, they will support the planning and execution of employee engagement activities.
    2. Time and Attendance Management:
      • A significant part of this role involves tracking absenteeism and overtime on a weekly and monthly basis. The intern will be required to generate reports and provide insights on absenteeism and overtime, ensuring full compliance with Unilever’s Global working hours policy.
    3. Learning and Development:
      • The intern will support the Learning team with administrative tasks. This will include helping to identify learning needs within the organization and assisting with the implementation of employee development initiatives.
    4. Employee Relations (ER):
      • Full adherence to labor legislation is a top priority for Unilever. The intern will assist with documenting employee relations cases and ensuring that all records are accurate. Responsibilities will also include minute-taking during union meetings and disciplinary hearings, as well as preparing reports and presentations related to employee relations.
      • The intern will actively participate in workshops and training sessions aimed at improving workplace relationships. They will also collaborate with other HR team members on various ER projects, conduct research on best practices in employee relations, and help coordinate union meetings and other ER activities.

    Minimum Requirements:

    • Educational Qualifications:
      • A 3-year university degree in any discipline, with preference given to candidates holding qualifications such as BComm, BBS, BPsych, BSocSc.
      • Alternatively, candidates with a 4-year BTech Degree (NQF Level 7) in HR Management will be considered.
    • Additional Qualifications:
      • A Post Graduate Diploma in Employee Relations (ER) is advantageous, but not required.
