Overall Purpose of the Trainee Aviation Safety Information Officer Job
As a Trainee Aviation Safety Information Officer, you will undergo comprehensive training to support the collection, validation, and distribution of safety information regarding incidents and accidents. Your role will be pivotal in improving the effectiveness and efficiency of the department through safety recommendations and data management.
Your work as a Trainee Aviation Safety Information Officer will have a significant impact on the aviation industry. By ensuring the accuracy and availability of safety information, conducting thorough risk assessments, and proposing effective safety measures, you will help to create a safer aviation environment. Your contributions will support SACAA’s mission to uphold the highest standards of aviation safety and security.
Key Responsibilities
- Aviation Safety Information Training: Receive extensive training on safety information management and best practices.
- Data Collection: Collect safety information data from various sources to ensure comprehensive coverage.
- Data Validation and Distribution: Validate data sources and distribute relevant information to internal departments.
- Database Maintenance: Maintain and update the CSSR/CHARS database to ensure accurate and current records.
- Safety Risk Assessment: Conduct thorough safety risk assessments and propose safety recommendations based on investigation findings.
- Accident Prevention Programs: Develop and propose actions and programs aimed at preventing accidents.
- Records Management: Keep detailed records of all reports and ensure their proper management.
- Industry Feedback: Provide feedback and safety information to the SACAA and relevant industry stakeholders.
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 Certificate
- National Diploma in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, Aircraft Maintenance Engineering (AME), Private Pilot License (PPL), or Air Traffic Control (ATC)
Ideal Qualifications
- Commercial Pilot License (CPL)
- Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
Experience
- 1 – 3 years of Aviation Safety experience, or
- 2 – 3 years of Aircraft Maintenance Engineer experience, or
- 100 flying hours with a PPL, or
- 2 – 3 years of ATC experience
