    Teaching and Learning Assistant Job Purpose

    The primary goal of the Teaching and Learning Assistant is to support the academic staff by handling administrative tasks, thereby enabling lecturers to focus on academic-specific outputs. This role is vital in contributing to the overall success and graduation rates of students.

    Key Responsibilities

    As a Teaching and Learning Assistant at Rosebank College, you will be responsible for a range of duties that support both the academic staff and students. Your tasks will include:

    • Administrative Support: Manage filing systems for lecturer/student consultations and peer review documentation.
    • Material Management: Assist in issuing and collecting materials for lecturers, including resource packs, handbooks, access tags, notebooks, and stationery.
    • Timetable Coordination: Ensure that timetables are accurately captured on the College Administration Management System (CAMS) and coordinate assignment due dates.
    • Event Coordination: Arrange and coordinate various academic events such as orientations, visits, awards, and booster sessions with support from the Programme Manager (PM) and Head of Academics (HOA).
    • Venue Management: Oversee bookings and readiness of venues, ensuring they are equipped and sized correctly as per the timetable.
    • Student and Lecturer Support: Handle administrative tasks related to student support workshops and lecturer orientations.
    • Graduation Coordination: Manage RSVP processes for lecturers, including organizing academic regalia and seating arrangements.
    • Data Management: Maintain and update various trackers, capture RCLearn hours, assist with SETS administration, and manage lecturer profiles and documents on the Academic Planning System (APS).
    • Communication and Reporting: Set agendas, take minutes for meetings, and assist in generating feedback and reports.

    Minimum Requirements

    To qualify for the Teaching and Learning Assistant role at Rosebank College, candidates must meet the following criteria:

    • A minimum of a 3-year Diploma (NQF Level 6).
    • 1-2 years of experience as a Senior Administrator.
    • 1-2 years of experience as a tutor or clerk in a public institution.
    • 1-2 years of experience in data capture and handling.
