    Positions Available

    1. Student Library Assistant: Circulation

    Location: Durban (DBN) and Pietermaritzburg (PMB)
    Responsibilities:

    • Assisting with circulation-related duties, including borrowing and returning books
    • Providing basic information services and responding to directional queries
    • Shelving books and conducting shelf-reading

    2. Student Library Assistant: Library Information Technology

    Location: Riverside Campus
    Responsibilities:

    • Assisting students with basic IT-related queries
    • Supporting post-graduate students with research-related assistance
    • Providing guidance in the research commons

    Minimum Requirements

    Education Requirement:

    • Currently registered DUT students in their 3rd year and above

    Preference:

    • Candidates registered for Library & Information Studies and post-graduate programs will be given preference

    Knowledge Requirements:

    • Familiarity with computer library systems such as FOLIO, Symphony, etc.

    Special Requirements:

    • Must be available after hours, including weekends
    • Excellent verbal communication skills
    • Strong customer service orientation
    • Ability to handle conflicts constructively
    • Physical stamina and ability to move around frequently

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Assist in all circulation-related tasks
    • Provide support for basic IT-related queries
    • Assist post-graduate students with research and information support
    • Help in shelving and shelf-reading books
    • Respond to basic information and directional queries

    Employment Duration & Salary

    Employment Period: 10 February – 19 December 2025
    Salary: R80 per hour
