Requirements

Educational Requirements

• Grade 12 with Mathematics and Science as subjects, achieving a minimum E symbol in both subjects.
• Alternatively, candidates with a minimum N2 qualification in the relevant trade with 4 trade-related subjects can also apply.

• Boilermaker: Mathematics, Engineering Science, Plating and Structural Steel Drawing, Plater Trade Theory.

• Diesel Mechanic: Mathematics, Engineering Science, Engineering Drawing, Diesel Trade Theory.
• Instrument Mechanician: Mathematics, Engineering Science, Industrial Electronics, Instrument Trade Theory.

Candidates must ensure that they meet these educational requirements and have obtained at least a symbol E (40%) in each subject. Subjects with an F symbol will not be accepted.

Additional Requirements

Apart from the educational prerequisites, candidates must also meet the following:

• Be able to undergo a psychometric assessment.
• Be willing and able to work shifts, standby, and call-outs as required.
• Have the ability to handle pressure and be an innovative self-starter.
• Be able to identify faults and provide solutions without supervision.
• Be in possession of, or able to obtain, a valid Certificate of Fitness.
• A valid driver’s license (K53) will be an advantage.
