    Recruitment Process

    • SBF annually identifies top-performing learners from primary schools across Cape Town through targeted recruitment campaigns and rigorous selection criteria.

    SBF High School Scholarship Application Requirements

    • Applicants must be Grade 6 learners in 2024, achieving a minimum of 65% aggregate in Grade 5 final and Grade 6 term 2 assessments.
    • Minimum 65% for Maths and 70% for English in Grade 5 final and Grade 6 term 2 assessments.
    • Demonstrated financial need and residency within 25 kilometers of SBF Newlands Office.

    Scholarship Details

    • Successful scholars undergo a 7-month preparatory program in Grade 7 to build bonds and access enriching learning experiences before commencing high school.

    • SBF manages two scholarships: SBF Scholarship and Disa High School Scholarship, partnering with 13 of Cape Town’s top high schools.
    • Holistic support includes psychosocial support, tutoring, boarding, sports, culture, and service activities.

    Work-Readiness Program

    • Four-year curriculum focusing on skills development, work-based confidence, and corporate readiness for university students.
    • Features workshops on critical thinking, problem-solving, branding, financial literacy, and coaching support.

    Scholarship coverage:

    • Full Tuition Coverage: Comprehensive coverage of all tuition fees throughout the scholar’s high school journey.
    • Uniform Support: Provision of uniforms in Grade 8, with additional assistance provided in Grade 10 to ensure scholars have appropriate attire throughout their schooling.
    • Textbook Allowance: Financial support to cover the cost of essential textbooks required for academic studies.
    • Travel Support: Assistance with travel expenses to and from school, ensuring scholars can attend regularly without financial burden.
    • Device and Data: Provision of necessary devices (e.g., laptops, tablets) and data packages to facilitate remote learning and academic research.
    • Lunch Provision: Daily provision of nutritious lunches, ensuring scholars have access to adequate nutrition during school hours.

    SBF High School Scholarship Application Process:

      • Learner CEMIS/Student number
      • Grade 5 Term 4 Report
      • Grade 6 Term 2 Report
      • Applicant’s birth certificate
      • Unabridged Birth Certificate for South African applicants or Birth Certificate for Non-South African applicants
      • Recent head-and-shoulders photo of the candidate
      • Applicant’s proof of study visa, if not South African
      • Compulsory 350-word essay hand-written by the applicant, answering the prompt provided
