Key Responsibilities

Some of your core duties as a SAPS Security Officer will include:

  • Access Control: Managing and implementing access control as per the Control of Access to Public Premises and Vehicles Act, 1985 (Act No. 53 of 1985). This includes ensuring positive identification of employees, visitors, and contractors at security checkpoints.
  • Visitor Management: Registering visitors and contractors, issuing admission control cards, and ensuring compliance with entry regulations.
  • Premises Patrol: Patrolling designated buildings and fenced-off areas to ensure all areas remain secure.
  • Vehicle and Equipment Security: Guarding vehicles and equipment within the field to protect them from theft or damage.
  • Inspections: Inspecting suppliers and items entering the premises to ensure they pose no threat to security.

Additional Information

  • Security Screening: Applicants will be subjected to a comprehensive vetting process, including fingerprint checks, security clearance, and vetting in line with the Criminal Law (Sexual Offences and Related Matters) Amendment Act, 2007 (Act No. 32 of 2007) and the Children’s Act, 2005 (Act No. 38 of 2005).
