    Key Responsibilities

The People Services Internship is a multi-faceted role where you’ll develop a deep understanding of HR processes and how they apply in real-world scenarios. Here’s what you can expect:

    1. Respond to Colleague and Manager Inquiries: You will serve as the first point of contact for employees and managers, addressing their questions about HR policies, procedures, and programs. This could involve anything from processing a new hire’s information to guiding an employee through a leave of absence.
    2. Utilize and Maintain Knowledge Hub: You’ll direct colleagues to self-service options and the Knowledge Hub, a centralized resource for HR-related queries. Part of your role will involve updating and improving this knowledge base, ensuring it remains a valuable tool for the entire organization.
    3. Support HR Colleagues: You’ll assist other HR professionals in processing and resolving more complex inquiries, ensuring that all cases are handled efficiently and in accordance with company policies. This might involve escalating issues to specialized teams or senior HR staff when necessary.
    4. Leverage Technology: In this role, technology is your best friend. You’ll use HR Information Systems (HRIS) and case management tools to track employee cases, manage data, and ensure that all documentation is up to date and accurate.
    5. Document and Improve Processes: Part of your responsibility is to document employee requests and interactions in the case management system. You’ll also have the opportunity to suggest improvements to current processes, contributing to the continuous enhancement of the service provided by the HR team.

    Requirements

To thrive in this role, you’ll need a unique blend of skills and experience:

    • HR Administration: Experience in general administrative tasks such as data processing, record management, and minute taking will be beneficial. If you have a background in HR, even better.
    • Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential. You’ll be dealing with sensitive matters and must be able to convey information clearly and professionally.
    • Organizational Skills: You’ll need to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively to meet deadlines.
    • Problem-Solving Abilities: The ability to think on your feet and handle difficult conversations or interactions is crucial.
    • Tech Savvy: Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) is required. Experience with HRIS and case management systems would be a significant advantage.

While a Bachelor’s degree is preferred, it’s not mandatory. What’s more important is your passion for HR and your willingness to learn. Previous experience in HR, particularly within a Shared Service Centre, will set you apart from other candidates. Knowledge of general HR processes and the ability to interpret and apply them in specific cases will also be valuable.
