    As part of the CB Division, the successful candidate will assist with the overall management of the store, ensuring that operational and administrative duties are executed in line with Dis-Chem’s high standards and internal policies.

    Key Responsibilities of the Retail Store Assistant

    • The successful candidate will be expected to:
    • Maintain proper document control relating to float, petty cash, and cash on hand.
    • Manage and report all customer compliments and complaints to store management.
    • Build and maintain professional relationships with customers.
    • Assist customers with enquiries and direct them to the appropriate departments when necessary.
    • Ensure customer stock queries are handled efficiently and feedback is provided timeously.
    • Adhere to the company’s customer turnover per hour benchmark.
    • Monitor and manage cash float discrepancies, shorts, and overs at the point of sale.
    • Process and manage refund and return transactions accurately.
    • Ensure correct handling of back shopping and returned merchandise.
    • Verify and review deliveries and supplier invoices to ensure accuracy.
    • Assist the Receiving Manager in preparing and logging claims on the Distribution Centre claims system.
    • Monitor and control high-risk stock to prevent losses.
    • Prepare daily run reconciliations and ensure accurate record-keeping.
    • Manage branch change orders to ensure cashiers are adequately supplied.
    • Maintain effective communication with internal departments and external stakeholders.

    Minimum Requirements

    To qualify for the Retail Store Assistant position, candidates must meet the following essential requirements:

    • Grade 12 / Matric
    • Basic computer literacy, including MS Word, Excel, and Outlook
    • SAP knowledge
    • Prior retail experience
