About the Registered Nurse Role

- Delivering Nursing Care
The nurse will provide care aligned with SANC regulations, Department of Health (DOH) standards, and National Core Standards. This includes executing nursing responsibilities that promote patient recovery and wellness. - Patient Advocacy and Compliance
Upholding the principles of patient advocacy is essential, which involves adhering to the SANC Acts and Omissions, the company’s Code of Conduct, and the Patient Rights and Responsibility Charter. Ensuring continuous professional development and maintaining alignment with the National Millennium Development Goals will also be vital. - Leadership and Supervision
The role involves supervising and leading a team to ensure efficient task completion. Regular monitoring and auditing of nursing activities will be performed to ensure adherence to protocols, patient safety, and organizational policies. - Auditing and Quality Control
The nurse will actively engage in internal and external auditing processes, including compliance with standards set by the DOH, SHERQ, National Core Standards, and SANC. - Patient Monitoring and Documentation
Accurate monitoring and documentation are integral to this role. This includes recording patient care services, updating care plans, and noting changes in patient conditions. Nurses must also ensure meticulous charting of patient vital signs, intake, and output. - Stock and Equipment Management
Effective management of medical stock and equipment utilized in the psychiatry unit will be expected. - Collaboration and Escalation
The nurse will collaborate with colleagues and escalate concerns to the Unit Manager when necessary, ensuring patients receive the best possible care.
Qualifications and Experience
To be considered for the Registered Nurse position, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Hold a Nursing Degree or Diploma with a specialization in psychiatry.
- Be registered with the South African Nursing Council.
- Possess a Basic Life Support (BLS) qualification.
- Have at least three years of wellness experience (preferred).
- Previous experience in a private hospital setting is advantageous.
- Demonstrate computer literacy.
