Rand Water is currently inviting applications for its Water and Wastewater Treatment Process Operations Learnership Programme, an NQF Level 2 initiative designed to empower and equip South African youth with valuable skills.

    Programme Overview

    The Water and Wastewater Treatment Process Operations Learnership Programme is an internship designed to provide participants with practical and theoretical knowledge in operating and maintaining water and wastewater treatment plants. Participants will also gain experience in quality monitoring, laboratory work, and equipment maintenance.

    The programme is based at Rand Water’s Rietvlei site in Johannesburg, Gauteng, and will include class-based learning, hands-on experience, and various assignments.

    Eligibility Criteria

    To be eligible for the Water and Wastewater Treatment Process Operations Learnership Programme, candidates must meet the following requirements:

    • Unemployed Status: Applicants must not be employed or enrolled in any other educational institution or learnership programme.
    • Educational Background: Candidates must have a Grade 12 certificate with Mathematics and Physical Science, achieving at least a Level 3 in these subjects.
    • Age Range: Applicants must be between 18 and 35 years old to align with the NSDS III goals.
    • Qualification Restrictions: Those who already possess a post-matric qualification will not be considered. Candidates are required to disclose any qualifications to avoid disqualification.
    • SA Citizenship: Applicants must be South African citizens and hold a valid SA ID.
    • Verification: A SAQA/NLRD verification report, obtainable from the SAQA website, must accompany the application.
