About the Railway Safety Regulator (RSR)
The RSR is a public entity established under Section 4 of the National Railway Safety Regulator Act No. 16 of 2002. Its core mandate is to oversee and enforce railway safety performance across all operators in South Africa. This includes overseeing the operations of neighboring countries extending their railway services into South Africa.

Who Should Apply?
The RSR bursary is open to young South Africans between 15 and 35 years who meet the following criteria:
Eligibility Requirements:
- Citizenship: Applicants must be South African citizens.
- Funding Status: You must not already be receiving financial assistance or sponsorship from another institution or bursary scheme.
- Education Level:
- School leavers: Submit your Grade 11 or mid-term Grade 12 results with a minimum average of 65%.
- Current tertiary students: Provide an academic record reflecting at least a 65% average.
- Institution Admission: Must have proof of registration or admission from an accredited institution such as a TVET college, University of Technology, or any public/private university in South Africa.
- Interview Availability: Be available for an interview if requested.
- Willingness to Commit: Successful applicants will be required to sign a bursary agreement.
