Role Overview: Lecturer – School of Social Science (Psychology)
What You Will Do
As a Psychology Lecturer, your main role will be to deliver high-quality lectures across various IIE qualifications related to psychology. This includes preparing and presenting course content, assessing student work, and providing timely feedback to help students improve. You will engage with students through different teaching modes, including face-to-face and possibly blended or online formats.
In addition to lecturing, you will play a vital role in lecturer development and support by collaborating with colleagues, conducting peer reviews, and facilitating workshops aimed at improving teaching practices. Supporting students academically is also central to this position; you will champion student development initiatives by monitoring progress and implementing tailored support interventions for those who need it.
Research is another important component. You will be encouraged to promote a culture of scholarship and contribute to the campus’s research output targets. This means engaging in research activities, publishing where possible, and incorporating the latest psychological theories and findings into your teaching.
Skills and Competencies Required
- Communication Skills: You must have excellent written and verbal communication skills to clearly convey complex psychological concepts to students.
- Organisational Abilities: Managing your workload and meeting deadlines is key, as well as coordinating with academic staff and management.
- Reflective Teaching: Demonstrating a strong ability to evaluate and improve your teaching methods based on feedback and outcomes.
- Relationship Management: Ability to build and maintain positive working relationships with students, staff, and management.
- Technological Literacy: Experience in using educational technologies and digital platforms to enhance learning will be an advantage.
- Passion for Education: Above all, a genuine passion for helping students learn and succeed.
Minimum Qualifications and Experience
Candidates must hold a Master’s Degree in Psychology and have at least five years of teaching experience in an academic environment. Previous experience in higher education is preferred, especially within teaching and learning frameworks that support diverse student populations.
