This opportunity is offered by the Department of Economic, Small Business Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs (DESTEA). The goal is to give young people a chance to gain valuable work experience and boost their chances of getting employed in the future.

    What Is the Free State Provincial Government Internship Programme?

    The internship programme runs for 24 months (2 years) and is designed to help young people gain on-the-job training. Interns will be placed in areas that match their qualifications. During this time, they will learn technical, public service, business, and life skills that are important in the workplace.

    This training will make it easier for interns to find formal jobs after completing the programme.

    Requirements

    To apply, you must:

    • Be between the ages of 18 and 35.
    • Have a diploma or degree in a relevant field.
    • Be unemployed.
    • Be a citizen of the Free State province.
    • Be entering the internship programme for the first time in government.

    How Much Will You Be Paid?

    The stipend (monthly allowance) will be decided based on the official rates set by the Department of Public Service and Administration. This will help cover your daily needs while you gain experience.

    You need to submit your application using a Z83 form, which can be collected at any public service department. Along with this form, include:

    • A recently updated CV (Curriculum Vitae)
    • Certified copies of your qualifications
    • Certified ID copy
    • If you are shortlisted, you will be asked to provide your academic transcripts
