    Job Summary

    The Protective Services Operations Officer will be responsible for maintaining and securing Rand Water’s facilities and infrastructure. Key duties include conducting investigations, overseeing the integrity of fences and gates, managing storekeeping and vehicle control, and implementing access control systems. The successful candidate will play a proactive role in crime prevention, property patrol, and adherence to relevant legislative guidelines, policies, and procedures.

    Key Responsibilities

    1. Security Investigations and Reporting
      • Conduct thorough investigations by gathering relevant information, administering and collecting evidence, and interviewing witnesses or suspects.
      • Record and report findings in compliance with Rand Water’s policies, standard operating procedures, and regulations.
    2. Maintenance of Security Infrastructure
      • Ensure fences, gates, and alarm systems are operational by responding to breakdowns, repairing isolators, and maintaining alarm tension.
      • Oversee the replacement of damaged alarm fences and steel palisades.
      • Manage budgeting requirements for the upkeep of fences, gates, and alarm systems.
    3. Storekeeping and Equipment Control
      • Control and issue Protective Services uniforms and cleaning materials from the Protective Services Stores.
      • Maintain accurate records of all equipment, ensuring efficient store management and housekeeping standards are met.
    4. Vehicle Management
      • Conduct daily inspections of all Protective Services vehicles, logging kilometers and arranging necessary maintenance with the Motor Mechanic.
    5. Access Control Management
      • Maintain and update the access control database for employees and contractors.
      • Issue and produce new access cards, conducting inductions for new employees and contractors as needed.

    Minimum Requirements

    • Education: Grade 12 (or equivalent qualification)
    • Certification: NKP and PSIRA registration
    • Experience: Minimum of two years in a security role within a National Key Point installation
    • Competency: SAPS competency certificate for handling firearms, including pistols, rifles, hand machine carbines, and shotguns
    • Skills: Basic computer literacy
