Key Responsibilities
The Principal Engineering Assistant will be entrusted with a variety of key responsibilities aimed at maintaining and enhancing the operational efficiency of HV plants. These responsibilities include:
- Maintenance: Regular maintenance and servicing of HV plant equipment to ensure functionality and safety.
- Operating Service HV Plant: Operating and managing high-voltage plant systems in accordance with company standards and safety protocols.
- HV Plant Support: Offering technical support to ensure that all operational requirements are met and any issues are resolved swiftly.
- Repairs and Breakdown Service: Addressing and solving breakdowns, repairs, and technical faults in the HV plant systems to minimize downtime.
- Training, Mentoring, and Coaching: Providing guidance and training to junior team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional development.
- Safety: Ensuring compliance with all safety protocols and procedures to create a safe working environment for all team members.
- Environmental Management: Overseeing environmental practices and ensuring that all operations are carried out in accordance with environmental regulations.
- Documentation Management: Maintaining accurate records and documentation related to maintenance, operations, and compliance.
Minimum Qualifications and Experience
To be considered for the role, candidates must meet the following minimum requirements:
- Qualification: A National N Diploma in Electrical Engineering, or an equivalent qualification, at NQF Level 6 with a total of 240 credits.
- Experience: At least 4 years of experience in HV Plant Management, including practical experience in high-voltage plant maintenance and operations. This experience will be critical to ensuring that the incumbent is able to manage the demands of the role effectively.
