    Purpose of the Job

    The Policy Development Internship is an integral part of Kagiso Trust’s commitment to youth skills development. This program provides graduates with hands-on experience, enabling them to contribute to policy development and advocacy initiatives. The Policy Development Internship runs for 12 months and is open to unemployed graduates aged between 18 and 35.

    Qualifications and Experience

    To be considered for this Policy Development Internship, applicants must meet the following criteria:

    • Certified Grade 12/NQF 4 level certificates.
    • Certified Copy of a Degree in Development Policy, Political Sciences, Economics, or a relevant Humanities or Social Sciences qualification.
    • Certified copy of an ID.
    • Certified copy of an Academic Transcript.
    • A comprehensive CV and a motivational letter.

    Key Performance Areas

    As a Policy Development Intern, participants will gain exposure to various aspects of policy development and advocacy. Their responsibilities will include:

    • Tracking and Monitoring Legislative and Policy Developments: Staying updated on legislative and policy changes in South Africa and the SADC region.
    • Identifying Networks and Stakeholders: Engaging with policy and decision-makers through various platforms.
    • Coordinating Policy Advocacy Initiatives: Liaising with internal stakeholders to organize advocacy events and initiatives.
    • Drafting Legislative and Policy Documents: Assisting in the creation of key legislative and policy documents.
    • Compiling Reports: Preparing monthly and quarterly reports to track progress and impact.
