Minimum Requirements
Basic Requirements
- A basic qualification accredited by the SAPC that allows you to register as a Pharmacist Intern.
- Registration with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC) as a Pharmacist Intern (or proof of application for first-time registration).
Knowledge and Skills
- Strong knowledge of Pharmacy legislation and national/provincial health policies.
- Ability to work under pressure while maintaining high standards.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Computer literacy is essential.
- Demonstrated leadership abilities, initiative, and problem-solving skills.
Duties and Responsibilities
As a Pharmacist Intern, you will work under the direct supervision of a registered pharmacist. Your responsibilities will include:
- Pharmaceutical Care
- Evaluate prescriptions for accuracy.
- Dispense medication.
- Provide essential information to ensure patient compliance and therapeutic success.
- Medicine Supply Management
- Safely manage procurement, storage, and distribution of pharmaceuticals.
- Ensure the availability of quality medicines while adhering to expenditure controls.
- Training and Education
- Assist with the training and development of pharmacy staff and other healthcare workers.
- Promote public health awareness and education.
- Quality Management
- Ensure adherence to Good Pharmacy Practices.
- Maintain compliance with occupational health and safety standards.
