Personal Assistant Job Purpose
The Western Cape Mobility Department seeks a suitably qualified and competent individual to provide secretarial support to the Director: Transport Administration and Licensing. The successful candidate must be capable of working under pressure, willing to work irregular hours, and able to meet tight deadlines.
Minimum Requirements
To qualify for the Personal Assistant position, applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Grade 12 (Senior Certificate or equivalent qualification)
- Accredited secretarial diploma and/or administrative qualification at NQF level 5 or higher tertiary qualification
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in providing support services to management or senior management
Competencies:
- Knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, prescripts, and procedures
- Office administration, database management, and information and records management
- Procurement processes and basic financial administration
- Understanding of government functioning, systems, and processes
- Proficiency in general information support systems such as BAS and MYTRACK
Skills:
- Language and computer literacy
- Sound organizational skills
- Good interpersonal and written communication skills
- Client liaison and networking abilities
- Report writing, research, and problem-solving skills
- Good telephone etiquette and high reliability
- Ability to communicate with people at different levels and from diverse backgrounds
- Tact and discretion in handling sensitive information

Key Performance Areas
- Provide secretarial/receptionist support to the Director
- Render administrative support services
- Assist the Director with meeting arrangements and preparations
- Support the administration of the Director’s budget
- Study and apply relevant public service and departmental prescripts/policies
Remuneration
- Salary: R 308 154 per annum (Salary level 7)
