The Role

Key Responsibilities
The Payroll Administrator will be responsible for coordinating the payroll activities between the Finance and HR departments to ensure seamless employee data management. This involves verifying and capturing monthly salary inputs, ensuring all relevant stakeholders approve the figures, and distributing detailed payroll reports to management. A significant part of the role is also managing payroll-related queries with professionalism and urgency.
In addition, the successful candidate will handle the submission of statutory reports and payments, such as EMP501, EMP201, and SARS reconciliations, particularly during mid and year-end periods. The role also involves the reconciliation and processing of third-party payments, including garnishees and provident fund contributions.
The Payroll Administrator will also be responsible for reviewing and verifying travel, advances, and overtime claims, ensuring meticulous record-keeping of staff data, and assisting with month-end payroll reporting and journals. They will also need to prepare payroll analysis reports and communicate any changes in payroll-related matters to the Finance Manager.
Skills and Experience Required
The ideal candidate for this role will have at least three years of experience working in a payroll office, performing all payroll functions. Knowledge and experience with PaySpace is essential, as it is the system used to manage the payroll. In addition to PaySpace, familiarity with an ERP/finance system like Maconomy is required, as well as advanced Excel skills for generating reports and performing payroll analysis. The Payroll Administrator will also need to have a strong understanding of SARS submissions and statutory compliance to ensure the company meets all regulatory requirements.
A Diploma or BCom in Financial Accounting is a mandatory qualification for the role. The candidate should also have excellent communication skills to ensure effective interaction with internal teams and management. The ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality and professionalism is also key.
