Northern Cape Premier’s Bursary Programme Overview

Centralized Bursary Management:

Funding Model:

  • Bursary funding will be provided from the annual allocation received from the Provincial Treasury, as part of the Annual Appropriation detailed in the Estimates of Provincial Revenue and Expenditure.
• Non-Repayable Bursaries:
  • The bursaries will be awarded as grants, not loans, ensuring that beneficiaries are not required to repay the funds.

Northern Cape Provincial Government Bursary Recruitment & Selection Criteria

The Northern Cape Provincial Government will apply the following criteria during the selection process for bursary applications:

Eligibility Requirements:

• Application Submission:
  • Must submit a fully completed application form as per the OTP checklist.
• Citizenship:
  • Must be a South African citizen residing in the Northern Cape province.
• Educational Status:
  • Applicants should have applied for or be currently studying at registered Higher Education Institutions (HEIs).
• Fields of Study:
  • Must be enrolled in fields of study that align with disciplines identified as scarce and critical within the province.
• Demographic Representation:
  • Consideration will be given to the demographic spread, including race, gender, age, and persons with disabilities.
• Geographic Distribution:
  • Geographic area within the Northern Cape will be considered.
• Academic Performance:
  • Academic achievement of applicants will be assessed.
  • Enrolled students must submit their most recent academic statement of results.
• Financial Need:
  • Proof of household income or financial means must be provided.

Contractual Agreement:
