    Responsibilities 

    As an NNICU-qualified Registered Nurse, you will be responsible for maintaining the highest standards of neonatal care while ensuring adherence to nursing codes and professional conduct. Your role will include, but is not limited to:

    Professional and Ethical Practice

    • Implement and uphold professional and ethical practices in the neonatal unit.
    • Maintain a high level of nursing care that aligns with both legislative requirements and ethical codes guiding nursing practices.
    • Accept full accountability and responsibility for your professional actions as a registered nurse.

    Clinical Competence and Patient Care

    • Use the nursing process to develop comprehensive care plans tailored to neonatal neurodevelopmental support.
    • Manage and supervise the activities of healthcare team members who assist in providing basic patient care.

    Customer Satisfaction and Relationship Building

    • Utilize available management tools and strategies to enhance patient experience and satisfaction.
    • Address and resolve patient and family complaints in a timely and professional manner.
    • Foster effective professional relationships with the members of the multi-disciplinary team to provide holistic patient care.

    Safety and Risk Management

    • Maintain a safe, emotionally supportive, and physically secure environment for all patients, with special attention to neonatal needs.
    • Participate in proactive strategies for infection control and Safety, Health, Environment, and Quality (SHEQ) management.

    Business Efficiency and Cost Management

    • Contribute to business efficiency by ensuring cost-effective patient care and responsible use of resources.
    • Oversee stock management, case management, and billing processes to maintain seamless interdepartmental cooperation.

    Staff Development and Mentorship

    • Assist in performance management and development of unit staff.
    • Provide on-the-job training and in-service education to improve team performance.
    • Participate in staff recognition and reward initiatives.

    Requirements

    To be considered for this role, applicants must meet the following requirements:

    • Relevant Degree or Diploma in Nursing
    • Post-basic qualification in Neonatal Intensive Care or Child Critical Care
    • Registered with the South African Nursing Council (SANC)
    • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NNICU)
    • Proficiency in Computer Systems and Software
    • Understanding of the Private Healthcare Industry (Experience in this sector will be advantageous)
