    The National Lotteries Commission (NLC) of South Africa has recently announced a fantastic opportunity for young graduates and student interns to join their team for the period of 2025 to 2027.

    These internships are designed to provide valuable work experience, while contributing to the regulatory and administrative functions of the NLC, one of the country’s most vital statutory bodies.

    Available Internship Opportunities

    The NLC is offering a total of 58 internship positions across various divisions and provincial offices, making it an excellent platform for graduates to build their careers. The internships are open to individuals who possess undergraduate or post-graduate degrees or a National Diploma. Interns will be assigned to different departments where they will gain hands-on experience in various key areas of the NLC.

    Key Divisions and Departments:

    1. Information & Communication Technology (ICT) – For those with qualifications in Computer Science, Information Technology, and Information Management Systems, opportunities are available at the Head Office in Pretoria.
    2. Developmental Studies/Research Management – Interns will be involved in research and studies that inform policy and regulatory decisions.
    3. Data Science, Statistics, and Business Development – Positions are available for those with expertise in data science and business development to contribute to strategic operations within the NLC.
    4. Financial Management, Supply Chain Management, and Risk Management – Graduates with qualifications in accounting, finance, and business management will have the chance to develop skills in these critical operational areas.
    5. Internal Audit and Human Resources – For those interested in auditing and human resource management, there are numerous roles that provide valuable industry experience.

    Provincial Internship Opportunities

    In addition to the opportunities at the NLC’s Head Office in Pretoria, the NLC is offering internships across multiple provinces in South Africa, providing opportunities for individuals who prefer to work closer to home. These internships cover a range of fields, including public administration, project management, and management assistance.

    Provincial Offices:

    • KwaZulu-Natal: Interns with qualifications in project management, public administration, and Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) are sought.
    • Limpopo, North-West, Eastern Cape, and Mpumalanga: Opportunities for those with qualifications in administration, business management, and customer service.
    • Western Cape, Free State, Northern Cape, Gauteng: Positions available for individuals with expertise in a variety of administrative and project management functions.

    CHIETA Smart Skills Centres

    Another exciting opportunity offered by the NLC is the chance to work at the CHIETA Smart Skills Centres, which are located in various provinces across South Africa. These centres focus on providing essential skills and training to individuals in business management, administration, customer service, and accounting. Graduates with relevant qualifications in these areas can apply to join the team at the CHIETA centres to enhance their professional skills.

    Internship Requirements

    To qualify for the NLC Graduate and Student Interns Programme, applicants must meet the following criteria:

    • Be between 18 and 35 years old.
    • Have completed an N6 National Certificate.
    • Be an unemployed student requiring experiential training for 18 months.
    • Have never participated in an internship program before.
    • Be a South African citizen.

    Application Process

    Interested candidates must complete the official application form available through the NLC’s online portal. Along with the application form, candidates are required to submit the following documents:

    • A concise Curriculum Vitae (CV).
    • Certified copies of the applicant’s ID document, senior certificate (Grade 12), and post-matric qualifications (including academic transcripts).
    • A one-page letter of motivation, clearly indicating the department, division, provincial office, or CHIETA Smart Skills Centre they are applying for.
