1. Mr Price Internship Opportunities: Trainee Planner
Job Description
As a Trainee Planner, you will follow a bespoke structured programme designed to build your knowledge and skills. You will learn to develop category plans, ensuring the right merchandise is in the right stores at the right time, with a strong understanding of financial measures around sales, stock, and profit.
Responsibilities
Job Learning:
- Apply learnt knowledge and skills by demonstrating an awareness of performance factors in current trade and managing opportunities and risks accordingly.
- Optimize stock based on the critical path and achievement of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
- Participate in building a product assortment informed by current trade, post-mortem analysis, and the seasonal strategy.
- Forecast financial plans and highlight variances for sales, orders, stock, and markdown planning.
Current Trade:
- Extract and analyze financial KPIs and product performance against set plans by sub-department, season, category, and sub-category.
- Contribute towards compiling reports highlighting performance-impacting issues.
- Assist with re-forecasting financial plans and concluding current trade action plans.
- Conduct competitive shop/store visits and relay findings and recommended action plans.
Building an Assortment:
- Collaborate with the buying and location planning team to build the assortment plan.
- Maintain the assortment in the relevant system (APS).
- Extract and analyze assortment reports for the planner.
Order Placement & Product Allocation:
- Create all order lines for the season, ensuring accuracy in details such as category, sub-category, product attributes, size curve, cost prices, selling prices, and PMO.
- Follow up on orders and resolve potential problems with the planner.
- Assist with order raising and timely allocations according to calendar deadlines.
Qualifications
- A completed Degree in Commerce, Business Science, Accounting, Statistics, Economics, Finance, Marketing, Strategic Management, Supply Chain, Logistics, or Retail.
- Relevant experience is advantageous.
- Shortlisted applicants will form part of a Talent Pool for future Trainee Planner roles.

Job Description
As a Trainee Buyer, you’ll apply your knowledge and skills by demonstrating an awareness of trade performance factors and managing opportunities and risks, considering the impact of competitors.
Responsibilities
Job Learning (Trade & Commercial Acumen):
- Apply learnt knowledge and skills by managing opportunities and risks in current trade.
- Understand the impact of competitors on our business.
Sample Management:
- Manage departmental samples from Fits to pre-production samples (PPS), ensuring accurate records and storage for future reference.
- Tag and store overseas samples post-trip for use in strategies, reviews, and assortment building processes.
Job Learning (Seasonal Strategy):
- Learn to create a seasonal strategy in collaboration with planning, including product assortment, spend allocation, supplier plan, and marketing focus to achieve strategic objectives.
Job Learning (Assortment Building):
- Learn to prepare and present a well-considered product assortment according to the seasonal strategy.
Booking:
- Ensure orders are captured on the system in time to adhere to the buying critical path process.
Qualifications
- A completed Diploma/Degree in Fashion Design, Clothing Management, Consumer Science, Clothing Production, or Textiles.
- Experience in the manufacturing industry is advantageous.
- Knowledge of garment construction, fabrics, fibres, and quality.
- Mathematical, negotiation, and presentation skills.
