Scholarship Coverage and Benefits

Eligibility Criteria

To apply for the Mandela Rhodes Foundation Scholarship, candidates must meet the following requirements:

  • Be a citizen of any African country, including South Africa.
  • Be aged between 19 and 29 years old.
  • Plan to study at one of the approved institutions in South Africa.
  • Have completed an undergraduate degree, or will complete by 1 January 2025, with a minimum overall average of 70% or an upper-second class Honours.
  • Intend to pursue a Postgraduate qualification in any field (excluding MBA studies) in 2025.
  • Secure admission to your chosen university by January 2025.
  • Demonstrate strong leadership skills, ethical leadership qualities, and a commitment to advancing equality, freedom, and human dignity in Africa.
  • Be fluent in English and able to undertake postgraduate studies in English.
  • Be committed to participating in the Foundation’s leadership development programme.
