Purpose of the Legal Administration Officer Role
The Legal Administration Officer will be responsible for processing claims settlement documentation and ensuring the effective coordination of procedures to expedite early settlements outside court. This role is critical for supporting arbitration and mediation efforts while maintaining compliance with South African laws and RAF’s policies.
Key Responsibilities
Legal Administration
- Transcribe and proofread legal documents for settlement purposes.
- Maintain and update case file databases with directives.
- Ensure all information and documentation are readily accessible.
- Administer dispute arbitration processes, including briefing experts and arranging hearings.
- Preserve confidentiality of sensitive documentation while ensuring timely delivery to intended recipients.
- Follow up on outstanding issues to ensure the smooth functioning of the Legal Administration department.
- File and manage records of settlement agreements and other relevant legal documents.
Block Settlements
- Coordinate meetings related to block settlements.
- Oversee court documentation management, filing, and monitoring processes.
- Provide explanations and clarity on claim assessments and settlement offers.
Reporting
- Assist in the preparation and timely submission of reports.
- Regularly update management on progress and necessary developments to aid decision-making.
Stakeholder Management
- Foster and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders.
- Address inquiries and provide necessary information to both internal and external stakeholders.
Qualifications and Experience
Educational Requirements:
- A Bachelor’s degree in law or equivalent qualification.
Experience:
- A minimum of 3 years’ relevant experience in a legal administration environment.
Competencies and Skills
The successful candidate should exhibit the following competencies:
- Strong capabilities in dispute resolution, mediation, and negotiation.
- Proficiency in laws and regulations related to personal injury and third-party compensation.
- In-depth knowledge of civil proceedings in South Africa’s Magistrate, Regional, and High Courts.
- Exceptional planning, organizing, and coordinating skills.
- High ethical standards and a strong sense of client service orientation.
- Decision-making abilities supported by sound judgment.

- This role is offered as a Total Employment Cost (TEC) package, with no additional contributions from the employer.
