    Firefighter Job Description

    As a Leading Firefighter, you will render efficient and effective firefighting and emergency services daily, ensuring the safety of residents and property in the City of Tshwane.

    Key Responsibilities

    As a Leading Firefighter, your duties will include:

    • Responding to rescue and firefighting operations
    • Providing basic emergency medical care
    • Practicing fire prevention and safety measures
    • Operating and maintaining firefighting equipment and facilities

    Requirements

    To qualify for this position, you must meet the following criteria:

    1. Educational Qualifications:
      • Grade 12 certificate
      • Completion of the Basic Ambulance Course with registration under the Health Professions Council of South Africa
    2. Firefighting Qualifications:
      • Firefighter I
      • Firefighter II
      • Hazmat First Responder: Awareness Level
      • Hazmat First Responder: Operational Level
    3. Driver’s License:
      • A valid Code C driver’s license
      • Must be deemed competent annually to operate vehicles requiring a Code C license
    4. Experience:
      • At least three years of relevant experience in the field.
    5. Physical Requirements:
      • Physically fit and healthy (verified through medical evaluation)
      • Must pass the physical capability test
    6. Other Requirements:
      • Willingness to work shifts and overtime with little or no notice
      • Willingness to be assigned to any geographical fire station in Tshwane
