Firefighter Job Description
As a Leading Firefighter, you will render efficient and effective firefighting and emergency services daily, ensuring the safety of residents and property in the City of Tshwane.
Key Responsibilities
As a Leading Firefighter, your duties will include:
- Responding to rescue and firefighting operations
- Providing basic emergency medical care
- Practicing fire prevention and safety measures
- Operating and maintaining firefighting equipment and facilities
Requirements
To qualify for this position, you must meet the following criteria:
- Educational Qualifications:
- Grade 12 certificate
- Completion of the Basic Ambulance Course with registration under the Health Professions Council of South Africa
- Firefighting Qualifications:
- Firefighter I
- Firefighter II
- Hazmat First Responder: Awareness Level
- Hazmat First Responder: Operational Level
- Driver’s License:
- A valid Code C driver’s license
- Must be deemed competent annually to operate vehicles requiring a Code C license
- Experience:
- At least three years of relevant experience in the field.
- Physical Requirements:
- Physically fit and healthy (verified through medical evaluation)
- Must pass the physical capability test
- Other Requirements:
- Willingness to work shifts and overtime with little or no notice
- Willingness to be assigned to any geographical fire station in Tshwane
