Purpose of the Role:
The Junior Engineer will deliver technical services, contributing to the development of technical outputs and quality deliverables that align with Lesedi’s internal engineering processes. This role supports projects within the Oil, Gas, and Power sectors, ensuring compliance with industry standards and codes.
Key Performance Areas:
The successful candidate will be involved in the following activities:
- Proposals and Development:
- Concept development and feasibility analysis.
- Preparation of technical specifications.
- Compilation of enquiry packages.
- Providing input to the Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) and project schedules.
- Design Development:
- Basic and detailed design for industrial and nuclear projects.
- Applying required codes and standards in designs.
- Providing technical support during installation and commissioning phases.
- Compilation of as-built documentation and lessons learned.
- Departmental and Company Processes:
- Compliance with Lesedi’s engineering procedures and processes.
- Effective interface management with other functional groups.
- Application of project management principles.
- Utilization of ERP and engineering software systems for project tracking.
- Leadership:
- Providing guidance to Engineering-in-Training (EIT) staff.
- Promoting the company’s core values and culture.
Qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant engineering discipline from an accredited university or an equivalent qualification.
- Registration as a professional with ECSA (Engineering Council of South Africa) or an internationally recognized professional engineering body.
Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in Design Engineering.
- Prior experience in the Energy Industry is advantageous.
Competencies:
Knowledge:
- Understanding of the nuclear and/or industrial engineering sectors.
- Familiarity with applicable codes and standards.
- Knowledge of the Health & Safety Act, ISO 14001, and OHSAS 18001 standards.
- Understanding of Lesedi’s Integrated Management System (IMS).
Skills:
- Proficiency in the MS Office suite.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Basic project management skills, with familiarity in project management software like Primavera or MS Project.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills.
- Adaptability and flexibility in dynamic environments.
